Italian Roots Journeys is an Australian business based in New South Wales. This policy explains what we collect through italianrootsjourneys.com, why we collect it and who we share it with.
What we collect
- When you reserve a place: your name and email, and optionally your ancestral region, family surname and who you're travelling with.
- When you join the waitlist: your email address.
- When you pay a deposit: your name, email, phone number and payment details, which are entered on Stripe's secure checkout. We receive confirmation of the payment and your contact details. We never see or store your full card number.
- When you browse the site: standard analytics information, such as pages viewed, the link or ad that brought you here, device and browser type, and approximate location. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Why we collect it
- To hold your place, contact you about the founding departure and process or refund your deposit
- To understand which regions and family backgrounds people are interested in, so we can plan where we run tours
- To measure which channels and ads bring visitors, and to show our ads to relevant audiences
We don't sell your information. We only use your contact details to contact you about Italian Roots Journeys.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. Some store data outside Australia, including in the United States:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Formspree — receives reservation and waitlist form submissions
- Google Analytics — website analytics
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — ad measurement through the Meta Pixel
- Netlify — website hosting
We may also disclose information if the law requires us to.
Cookies and ad tracking
Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel use cookies to measure visits and ad performance. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.
How long we keep it
We keep reservation, waitlist and deposit records for as long as we need them to run and plan our tours, and to meet our tax and record-keeping obligations. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, except records we're legally required to keep.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or raise a privacy concern, by emailing admin@italianrootsjourneys.com. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
